Double digits

I'll get to my weekend recap tomorrow, but first my long run recap.

Saturday's run was scheduled to be 10 miles. Our first double digit run in this marathon training program. And, once again, we were running with the 4:30 pace group.

After all the rain on Friday night, it was pretty nice out Saturday morning. I was afraid/hopeful that it would still be monsooning and I would have an excuse to stay in bed, but the rain cleared up and the weather was relatively cool. For Houston.

And. I finally got myself a hand-held water bottle. I bought the 10.5 ounce version of the amphipod. It was definitely weird to run with and I'll have to get used to it but it wasn't horrible. My elbow was pretty stiff when I was done though.

The run itself was. I don't know. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. It just was. I ran probably about half of it alone just for a change of pace. I think if I'm going to run alone more though, then I need to replace my ipod.

The new adidas sports bra worked out well. Very minor chafing on my shoulder and I think that was from my shirt, not the sports bra. I'm going to have to buy a few more.

The best part about Saturday's run, as always, was the brunch afterwards. I went home and showered and then I took the twin to Max's Wine Dive. Love that place.

But now I haven't run since Saturday and it's track Tuesday. Must keep up better with my schedule. Totally working on it.

Here's what: August 15

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... If you haven't seen this photo of Usain Bolt winning the men's 100m at the IAAF World Championships, you might be living under a rock. There are five sessions, and some pretty good events, left to go at Worlds. And Team USA is currently sitting atop the medal table with a total of 10 medals - 4 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. So...I joined a local running club. And I signed up for the marathon training program! Not that I'm signed up for an actual marathon or anything. This particular training group is training for my race, so I can't exactly run that. There are weekly track sessions and long runs are on Saturdays. The program lasts for 22 weeks. Well but we've already missed two weeks bc of other commitments. E and I will be doing this together. We'll see how this goes.  Towards the end of September is something called Social Media Week. It is a leading media platform and worldwide event ...

Weekend

I love weekends. I wish they were longer...doesn't everybody? It was quite the lazy weekend too, being that it was so hot out. I ran Sunday...kind of. It was so hot, I hadn't had enough water, or food for that matter, so I cut my run short. And then we opted to eat out instead of cooking. I really need to cook this week. And maybe not drink. Except I have half a bottle of red left over from last night's Bachelorette finale fiesta with E.  Monday. Oh Monday. Cancelled my run once again when the car told me it was 102 outside. Can't wait to be able to run in the mornings. Last night was the Bachelorette season finale so E came over for dinner and some wine. I now love sweet potatoes and I may have had a little too much to drink. And then decided it was a good time to update my iOS on my iphone. I'm still trying to get my phone back to where it should be. It made me do a complete restore, then I couldn't restore from a current backup and when I was f...

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder?

The I can't believe it's been about seven months since the last time I posted a blog. Did you even notice I was gone? So much has happened in the time that I have been gone. I'm not sure I would be able to get the whole story out or even know where to start. The 2017 #HouMarathon, the twin's last chemo and radiation treatments, me accepting a new position with Susan G. Komen Houston, Aunt Sandy practically in remission, I lost Lola, I got Jewels, my second trip to Denver, my little sister's wedding...the list goes on and on. It's been a very rocky eight months. Personally, professionally, any way you want to look at. But I'm moving into a great place in my life right now and that's all I can ask for.  I was devastated just over a month ago when I lost Lola. She was having trouble breathing one night and by lunch the next day the vet had told me there was nothing they could do. Tumor in her left atrium. I  had to let her go that afternoon. ...
