A's visit, the storm that wasn't and some other stuff

Where to start? Omg these flowers. So I got flowers last week from one of my vendors. Literally five minutes later the delivery guy comes back and says sorry, they cancelled the order I need those flowers back. Umm, excuse me what?! So we may have given him a hard time even though it wasn't the delivery guy's fault. So I responded to an email from said vendor about something else and gave them a heads up - hope this is true and they didn't bill you for the flowers and run. They. were. mortified. Flowers #2 showed up 45 minutes later.  A came into town for two days...hadn't seen her since my birthday dinner in Stammie in 2013! It was great to hang out. We went to Starbucks, took a long walk, dinner, drinks, brunch...all the good stuff. She left way too soon. Then came the storm that wasn't. This was the first "storm" that was forecast for the area since I moved to Texas. And my email was going nuts. Bc of where I work, I get all the weather updates f

Favorite easy recipes

Ok, so here's the deal. These are my go to recipes that I make on a regular basis. At some point there were actual recipes involved, but now I just kind of wing it and throw everything together. It just depends on how much garlic you want that night (a lot) or how much sriracha should be on that salmon (enough to make you sweat, but not enough to make your eyes water). I will clearly never be a food writer, but take a look at the recipes below, everything is basically to taste... Healthy chicken salad 1 Chicken breast Nonfat Greek yogurt garlic avocado spinach tomatoes I always bring my chicken to a boil, if fresh, for 20 mins total in the pot, wait for it to cool and then pull apart. In the mean time, mix two spoonfuls of the yogurt with half an avocado (whole avocado if it's small), half a clove of garlic, spinach and tomatoes. Mix in the chicken when it's cool and that's it! Sriracha glazed salmon 1 salmon fillet sriracha brown sugar Mix

Weekend recap

It was one of my Friday's off this past weekend, so my weekend started Thursday after work. I caught up with G Money at lunch on Thursday and had an amazing blue cheeseburger with pork belly at HEB's Table 57 restaurant. I went in telling myself this couldn't be a long lunch...and then we talked work and track for two hours. Whoops. Thursday night we made the portobellos stuffed with italian sausage...love those. And the house smells like pizza when we make them haha. Friday was nice and relaxing. After going to yoga and giving Lola a bath I spent a few hours at the pool and then went for a short run. Initially I wanted to run four miles, but at the last minute I got a 5K entry for Saturday morning's Heights 5K so I just took it easy. Made another batch of the spinach and basil pesto, this time over spinach tortellini. So easy and so good. The alarm came early Saturday morning and I was out the door for the run. I had no idea what to expect I would run pace-wise. I

Five day weekend turns into six #HoustonFlood

So now lets step back to the weekend before last and a post that has been sitting in my draft pile. For Memorial Day I had a five day weekend. Yep, you read that right. Five days off. And guess what? It turned into a SIX day weekend bc you know #HoustonFlood. There was lots of food and laying around with some workouts spread through out, but not much else as the weather was horrible. Which brings us to Monday. Monday was National Burger Day and the Rockets were playing (not that I cared) so obviously we needed to go out for burgers. And Doc's offers half price burgers on Mondays. Done. The specials were great and my burger hit the spot. But still we left at half time and decided to head over to Pistolero's bc Margarita Monday. And stayed for a few rounds, love the drinks and the people who work there. Must've been around 10:30pm when we decided to call it a night. Well, on the way to drop friends back at their car we realized just how much it was raining. The water w
