Today is my Friday

I love our spring schedule at work - the office is split into two groups and we rotate Fridays off for several months. And tomorrow is my Friday off. It looks like the rain may finally take a break tomorrow, so I plan on running, going to yoga and hanging out by the pool if I can. At least until I need to go to the store to get everything for Friday night. I really need to step up my running and to do that, I think I actually need to schedule in some off days. Last week, my Friday, Saturday and Sunday runs all felt terrible. Monday and Tuesday were good and then yesterday felt sluggish and hard again. I don't think I am one of those people who can run seven days a week with no rest. Not after being a runner for over 20 years. I need rest. Even if it's only one day off a week. I also need to get back into yoga. I think that's part of the problem too. It's been over a week since my last class. And my hips are ridiculously tight. I'm going to try and start going

Party planning

I'm a planner. I like to plan things. And by things I mostly mean parties. I love to plan having people over. And I generally tend to go overboard. Girls night, Friday pasta dinners, Christmas Eve, etc. And right now it's fight night. There are some Bellator fights on Friday night and I'm having people over. So. I need a menu. Food and drinks. All the drinks. :) Nobody has a race on Saturday, so we don't have to have pasta. I always want to do something fun and not the standard party food. That's boring.  The fights start late, so maybe not a full dinner. I'm always dying for a reason to make a cheese plate. And I recently saw a "dip party" on Pinterest and while I don't want a ton of dips, I love a good hummus or two and maybe one more dip. And the fresh market has some pretty good flat bread pizzas. Is that enough? Too much? Who knows.  Now for the drinks. S wants to bring his margarita machine. Cool. And I want one of my favorite

Update 4.18.16

Since the office is closed bc of all the rain today, I finally have time/want to write an update. I've been gone for a minute bc I wanted/needed to walk away for a bit. Anywho...last weekend I finally really celebrated my birthday on Saturday...with some good people and a lot of champagne. Max's Wine Dive for dinner (love that place, great brunch), Stone's Throw for drinks (another fave) and Pistoleros late night bc well Pistoleros. Sunday was super lazy. Stayed in bed forever, wandered around for a few hours before heading to an engagement party for friends. Super cute couple, so happy for them. Since we're still in the middle of my use-or-lose vacation day, I had two days off mid-week last week. Wednesday was spent having all the fun and I tried to make up for it on Thursday. Dish Society is now one of my favorite happy hours. $15 bottles of prosecco and pretzels with gouda queso. Yes please. Which is probably why I cut my Thursday morning run short. That, the ma

#DolanJonesThisIsHowWeDoIt

What a weekend. It was so long it's taken me all week to recover. It started on Friday when we dropped off the dogs with my coworker and his wife and left for the airport. When we arrived in Philly, my parents picked us up at the airport, we stopped at the lil sis' house for a quick visit and to pick up the twin and then we headed into the city to check into the hotel and go out to dinner. All I wanted was to relax for a minute and maybe take a shower, but four people were waiting on us for dinner, so after a quick drink we headed over to the Oyster House . Oh and somewhere in here is where S met my cousin J. They're like long-lost brothers...both have giant beards and do kickboxing/muay tai.  Dinner was pretty damn good. All the seafood - oysters on the half shell, shrimp, scallops, a lobster roll or three. And whatever my drink was - the brown derby (whiskey, grapefruit and honey) - it was amazing. After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a while. The bridal pa
