Here's what: Jan. 31

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week. The Bachelor. I don't want to be the girl obsessed with watching the Bachelor or the Bachelorette. But...I totally am. I just started watching maybe two years ago. It's like a train wreck that you just can't look away from. The girls this season are as crazy as ever. The dojo. I need a new pair of jeans (I ruined two, two!, pair on race weekend) and these 7's are my favorite. While I was looking for a new pair online I found these on PiperLime . And I wanted to punch the model in the face when I saw - Model is 5'9, wearing a size 26. How is there no Nike in Houston? I've been looking for a top to run in when we go to Austin in a few weeks and I think this might be it. I wanted to go Lululemon bc their stuff is super cute but I think I'm gonna have to stick with my tried and true Nike . I could always just wait til their Expo to buy something.

Time out

There was a happy hour (or four) after work yesterday which led to this...Hope you all have a great day!

Weekend bust

This past weekend was a bust. I hardly accomplished anything on my to do list. Saturday morning I got up at the crack of dawn, aka 6:30am, to meet up with E and get our "long" run in. With three weeks left until Austin, our goal was 8 miles. But as soon as we started out on our run, I just wasn't feeling it. I told E flat out a few minutes in that if we didn't make 8, I wouldn't be upset about it. If I had been alone, I prob would have just went home. But E kept me going and we ran 7.6 miles. After a quick bite to eat, I had to get home quick and shower and then get over to the warehouse. It was clean up day. All the signage and equipment and anything else you can think of from race weekend had to be cleaned and/or organized and then stored correctly until next year. oof and it was hot out on Saturday. After five hours at the warehouse I made it home and promptly took a three hour nap. woops. Then I watched the second season of Scandal. Until 1am. So on Sund

CHM recap

My goal was to write a recap of the Houston Marathon race week and everything that involved but I honestly can't remember half of it. It was a whirlwind of meetings and writing and running around. Race day was unlike any other I have experienced in Houston so far. COLD, rainy, not really weather you want to be outside in. I think I was out there for five hours, but that too is a blur. I was at the start line until about 6:30am, then the finish line until about 9:45am. Unable to feel my toes, which resembled icicles, I went inside to host our winners press conference. It was quite a long day. I think I worked til about 8pm before falling asleep on my couch. The past two weeks have been spent recapping that one day. What went wrong, what went right, what we should change or keep for next year. And I am smack in the middle of what they call post-race depression.

What's your song?

I read somewhere once that every song tells a story. Well we all have our own stories, so what song best matches you? I want to believe that my story goes something like this: I belong with you, you belong with me   You’re my sweetheart   I belong with you, you belong with me   You’re my sweetheart   Love we need it now   Let’s hope for some   So were bleeding now   I belong with you, you belong with me   You’re my sweetheart   I belong with you, you belong with me   You’re my sweet --Ho Hey, The Lumineers  Or this: So I'll be bold As well as strong And use my head alongside my heart So tame my flesh And fix my eyes That tethered mind free from the lies But I'll kneel down Wait for now I'll kneel down Know my ground Raise my hands Paint my spirit gold And bow my head Keep my heart slow Cause I will wait, I will wait for you And I will wait, I will wait for you And I will wait, I will wait for you And I will wait, I will wait f

Here's what: Jan 24

It's harder than I thought it would be to get back into my routine. But I'm working on it. So here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week. With a possible beach vacation looming, I've been looking at bathing suits online. I've always been a bikini girl, but I am loving this suit . I'll have to think about it. Avocados. Oh how I love avocados. And I love that they are cheaper in Texas! On sandwiches, with eggs, with tomatoes and mozzarella...I've had some every day this week. Yumm! Love this blog . So jealous. First of all, her name is Vicky. LOVE. She's german, lived in Cali for a bit, and now lives in Vienna. swoon.

Lifestyle/Diet

I don't want to go on a diet. Diets are dumb and they don't work. I just want to be healthier. What I need to do is change my lifestyle. It's probably something I should do gradually and not all at once either. But do I want to follow some "guidelines" or just figure it out on my own. Paleo, vegetarian, gluten free (my fit foods)... Here are the things I at least know I should be working on. Cut down/out processed food. Cut (way) back on the soda Eat more fruits and veggies (as I sit here writing this, I'm eating out of the carton of a pint of ice cream. Go me!) I generally can stick to a plan for a little while but once I go off the rails, watch out. I had lost a few pounds over race weekend bc I was basically too busy to eat. But once the event was over I had one bad meal after another. It was just one a day, but they were bad enough to matter. Danielle over at Breakfast at Toast has been doing crossfit and paleo and loves it. She just wrot

Too many shoes

You can never have too many shoes, right? Take a look at (a small sampling of) my running shoes...not including the ones that stay in my car for runs at Memorial Park, or all the pairs I had to leave behind in my move to Texas, or the Under Armour ones that I've gotten for work. Can you tell which brand I prefer? Sidenote - this kind of post is what happens when I'm STILL feeling drained from an event (a week later) and I have no idea what to talk about...

Finally went for a run

Today at work I officially signed up for the Austin Half Marathon. That takes place on February 17, 2013. That's right, it's one month away. One month. And I honestly can not remember the last time I went for a run before today. I think it was the turkey trot. So after work today, Kristin, Erin and I went for a run at Memorial Park. Just one loop around the park. We have to start somewhere. So that we can finish together in Austin. Kristin found a four week training plan on Women's Health ...I don't know how I feel about it, but it's somewhere to start. Monday: Complete rest or cross training (45 to 60 minutes at an easy to moderate effort) Tuesday: 3 to 4 miles easy running Wednesday: 6 to 7 miles easy running * Thursday: Off day or 3 to 4 miles easy running Friday: Cross training (45 to 60 minutes at an easy to moderate effort) Saturday: 3 to 4 miles easy running ** Sunday: Long run! (Starting at 7 to 8 miles, increasing by one mile each

What's up: Jan. 17

After a really long last ten days, here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week. Sleep, all I want to do when I get home from work is sleep. Once we get to the weekend and I can sleep in til whenever then I think I'll be ok again. It has been over a month since I've been for a run. I haven't run consistently since prob the Houston Half and that was back in October. So obviously I have agreed to run the Austin Half Marathon in, oh, one month from now. Time to start running! I may or may not have a HAWAIIAN vacation coming up! I'll find out soon (I think) whether or not I am going some time in March. OMG. How exciting?!? I could really use a vacation...which means...time to start working out and eating better!

Time to unwind

Whoa. That was a long week. And a longer weekend. At some point, maybe tomorrow, I will write a recap on my first houston marathon. But right now all I want to do is sit on the couch, watch some tv and go to bed. And get a puppy. I still really want a puppy, especially after seeing Kristin's today.

Tumblr

Like I don't have enough to do with work, facebook, twitter, pinterest and blogs...I've now stumbled onto tumblr. Seems to me like it's pinterest for pretty pictures. At least with the layout I chose anyway. So if you have tumblr too or just want to see my page...check it out here: http://fabulousrun.tumblr.com/

Busy Busy

My original goal when I began this blog was to post every weekday (or at least four times a week), but I didn't take into account how busy I would get in the two weeks leading up to race day. Since New Year's I've been working at least 10 hours a day in the office and then coming home and doing a bit more work. Press releases, social media, race week scheduling, the list just keeps going. It's a good thing I love my job! The race is a week from Sunday and there's so much to do. I'll def get back to normal posting once the race is over, but in the meantime I will still try and get a few posts in between now and then.

Here's what: Jan. 3

I am so busy with work right now (and trying not to be sick) that I don't have time for much else. With the Houston Marathon less than 10 days away, here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week.

Happy New Year!

It's January 1, 2013...my first new years in Houston and, hopefully, the start of a fabulous year for me. I've already made a list of 20 wishes for 2013 , but I've been thinking it's time to come up with some goals. Not necessarily for 2013, but life goals - where I want to go from here. This could take me more than a minute.
