Time for a change?

I say that a lot. I really want to mean it this time. I do want to have a healthier life. Hopefully it will help with a few things. Like the fact that I am tired. All the time. I woke up this morning exhausted. After a fairly restful weekend. I haven't been working out too much since Doug came to visit. So I need to work on that. And I was eating well until vacation. And then I had 10 days of complete, eating whatever I wanted. Even though I was only on vacation for four. Oops. But I'm also not going to throw away all the unhealthy food in my house. It's just too much money to waste. Which is how this dinner happened last night. I have some chicken salad left, some lunch meat, mac n cheese. I'll finish up the perishable stuff and slowly cut out the other stuff. I want to start out by doing this: And then move on to this: And I can't forget to add in the exercise. I should/could start training for the half marathon I am running in October. I want to r

Friday Friday

T G I F. It's finally Friday! Yay!!! I know I have no reason to complain about this week, it was a four day week for me. But I am still so happy that it's over! Now if only I could sleep in tomorrow. But I can't. E has agreed to bike our marathon course for me with a camera, so I will be following in my car. We're meeting at her place at 5:30am. Yikes!

Here's what: July 25

This week has been a blur. It's seemed to drag on but has also been a blur if that makes any sense. In any regard...here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week. One of my favorite grocery stores just opened two stores in Houston and two more are coming. I'm a big fan of The Fresh Market. They are focused on perishables. Much of the store is devoted to produce, fresh meat, seafood, a deli and a bakery. Many of the items are gourmet products. Love, love, love most of their ready-to-eat meals.   FINALLY had lunch at Tiny Boxwood 's yesterday. I've been trying to go there for months now. Even scheduled a work meeting for one Monday afternoon only to then find out it was closed on Mondays. It was very tasty, but on the expensive side. Must go back and try everything on the menu. This wall shelf is kinda cool. Maybe it would be good for my new apartment, although I have no idea where I would put it. Or how I could screw it into the concret

Weekend recap

My mini vacation is officially over and I have to go back to work this morning. It was great to get back to North Wildwood and spend time with family and friends. I flew in Friday now and out early Monday afternoon. If I take this trip again, I would definitely make it Weds to Monday or something like that. It was just too short. There was beach time and cook outs on Saturday and Sunday, a trip to the boardwalk with my nephew Hunter and a last breakfast with my mom and godmother on Monday morning. Now I can't find the cords to connect my camera to my computer so I've borrowed a few pics from Deb to supplement what I had on my cell.

Beach time

I'm leaving in a few hours for the airport! Heading to North Wildwood to spend the weekend with my family. Hope you all have a great weekend! That's me!

Here's what: July 18

It's almost time for my mini vacation! Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... Our beach house. My grandfather bought this house 45 years ago! now that my dad owns it, the family is slowly starting to update things. And Deb wants to talk about her ideas for the upstairs while I'm home. Can't wait to get there tomorrow night. This is the seafood boil the fam had last weekend at the beach and we're supposed to make something similar again this weekend. I l.o.v.e seafood. I'm always looking for sunblock. Deb told me about this one - Sun Bum - a while ago and I've been wanting to try it. Just have to see if I can find it down there. Won't be able to take it with me since I'm only taking carry on luggage on the plane.

Mini vacay time

Two more days. In two more days I will be flying home to spend a weekend in Wildwood! I haven't been there since last summer and this is likely the only time I will get there this year. I get in Friday night and leave Monday afternoon. I'm looking forward to some beach time and some good food. Now I just have to pack. The goal is to take a backpack and tote and nothing else. Found a great summer travel packing list on pinterest to follow... And I bought two new swimsuits for the occasion.

Moving plans

I'm moving in about six weeks. Time to start thinking about packing and how I'm going to get my stuff together and move it. Alaina over at Live Creating Yourself used something in Chicago for her move called redi-box. Thirty red plastic boxes were dropped in her living room on the requested day and she threw any and all of my non-furniture item into one.  Moving all of the knick knacks–like kitchenware, decorative items, even some clothes, and the entire contents of her bar–became super easy... Image via http://www.livecreatingyourself.com/ Looks like a good way to go to me. I think I've found a place in Houston - One Source Moving - that offers the same service.  This type of box will stack much easier then a random assortment of cardboard boxes and also has handles so they will be easier to carry. Their website talks a lot about movers too though, so I hope it's possible to just rent the crates. I'm not sure I can do anything in the mean time. If I&

Happy Friday!

It's finally Friday! And I am looking forward to not doing anything this weekend!

Here's what: July 11

It's been a long week. Week's after a long weekend usually are. I've got a beach weekend coming up so I've been trying to get ready for that. And I've been stalking a bag I want online. So...here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week. I have been stalking this bag online for months - the MICHAEL Michael Kors Striped Medium Travel Tote. And it's finally gone on sale. So, of course, the navy white and has sold out everywhere I look. And where I can find it, it's still full price - $328. Ugh. So I may have gone a little off the deep end earlier this week in regards to my diet. I've got this beach weekend coming up at home and after eating everything in site last weekend, I needed a fresh start. So for a few days, I loosely followed the first few days of this cleanse . Breakfast and lunch on Monday was watermelon, honeydew and grapes. Tuesday's breakfast was honeydew and lunch was spinach, mushrooms and two hard boiled eggs. Din

New projects

It's no secret I have a lot of free time on my hands. So to keep myself busy, I wanted to make a list of projects/things to work on. Recipes I want to make, books I want to read, home projects to do, etc. So here we go... I just saw these this morning - blueberry crumb coffee cake muffins on Cupcakes and Cashmere . Yum! Recipe here. Deviled egg spread ! How have I never had this before? A book to read ...Gone Girl ’s toxic mix of sharp-edged wit and deliciously chilling prose creates a nerve-fraying thriller that confounds you at every turn. One of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time, New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn takes that statement to its darkest place in this unputdownable masterpiece about a marriage gone terribly, terribly wrong. Marriage can be a real killer. Ok, it's a small list so far. But I'm working on it. More later...

Road trip?

It's no secret that I want to travel. For work, for fun, any reason to go somewhere new. And it's been a hot minute since I've been anywhere. And now E is telling me she wants to take a trip. To Europe. Now, obviously, I am interested. But maybe we should start smaller. I still haven't been to New Orleans. Or San Antonio. So maybe I will start off with a road trip. And try to convince her to go with me. If I am going to take a road trip, there are some tips to keep in mind. Start early or leave late - Besides avoiding major traffic, it can also be kind of exciting to get on the road before the sun rises or after it sets.  Fill her up - Make sure the gas tank is full before you set out on the trip. Pack snacks - Fill a cooler with veggie sticks, hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter, crackers, and other healthy snacks. Packing snacks is the best way to maintain your bikini body when there’s nothing but fast food for miles.  Plan for spontaneous stops - Be sure

Weekend recap - 4th of July

I just love four day weekends. Can't get enough of them. Wish we had one a month. I had a visitor! My cousin D came in Weds night and left Sunday morning. Now, he's used to always being busy. He goes out a lot, is always doing something. While I am...not. So Thursday was a bit slow for his taste. We went out for brunch at the Egg & I, a place that is right across from apartment but I had never been too. And it was pretty good. But I didn't have anything else for us to do until the Freedom Over Texas thing later that night. So we ended up going to Central Market and wandering around for a bit. I love that place. Then finally it was time for the Fourth of July festivities. There was a lot going on with A LOT of people. Food trucks, beach volleyball, a kids zone and one, or maybe three, concert stages. Friday was a better day. More things to do. After a quick stop at Target, we went to look at my new apartment complex. Not too sure D liked the place, but he did

Mondays

No weekend recap today. There's really nothing to report. I worked on Saturday and watched a lot of The West Wing in three days. Today is Monday. Oh Mondays. But it is a three day week. So tomorrow could be Wednesday and the day after Friday. So not so bad. But it's still Monday.
