Road trip?

It's no secret that I want to travel. For work, for fun, any reason to go somewhere new. And it's been a hot minute since I've been anywhere. And now E is telling me she wants to take a trip. To Europe.

Now, obviously, I am interested. But maybe we should start smaller. I still haven't been to New Orleans. Or San Antonio. So maybe I will start off with a road trip. And try to convince her to go with me.

If I am going to take a road trip, there are some tips to keep in mind.
  • Start early or leave late - Besides avoiding major traffic, it can also be kind of exciting to get on the road before the sun rises or after it sets.
  • Fill her up - Make sure the gas tank is full before you set out on the trip.
  • Pack snacks - Fill a cooler with veggie sticks, hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter, crackers, and other healthy snacks. Packing snacks is the best way to maintain your bikini body when there’s nothing but fast food for miles.
  •  Plan for spontaneous stops - Be sure to allow enough time for stopping at that cute little roadside diner or kitschy tourist attraction. Take the scenic route and embrace unexpected detours. Road trips are as much about the excursion as they are about the destination.
  •  Don't forget your SPF and sunnies - If you are road tripping in the sunny months, keep in mind that it is possible to get sunburnt through the car windows.

Here's what: August 15

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... If you haven't seen this photo of Usain Bolt winning the men's 100m at the IAAF World Championships, you might be living under a rock. There are five sessions, and some pretty good events, left to go at Worlds. And Team USA is currently sitting atop the medal table with a total of 10 medals - 4 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. So...I joined a local running club. And I signed up for the marathon training program! Not that I'm signed up for an actual marathon or anything. This particular training group is training for my race, so I can't exactly run that. There are weekly track sessions and long runs are on Saturdays. The program lasts for 22 weeks. Well but we've already missed two weeks bc of other commitments. E and I will be doing this together. We'll see how this goes.  Towards the end of September is something called Social Media Week. It is a leading media platform and worldwide event ...

Are these really the same shoes?

I was so excited to order the pink nike pegasus sneakers that I was swooning over last week. After everything that happened, it was my way of cheering my self up. Then they came in the mail. Now don't get me wrong, I still love them, but I don't love them as much. In person, they are much darker than the picture would have you believe. They are even darker than the picture I took. Must be something about this pink, it always looks brighter in the photo. They look so similar in these pictures. But in person. It's almost a different shoe. Oh well. At least they were on sale. In unrelated news...I called the insurance company on the premise of telling them I was moving but really just wanting an update on my claim. Well the really nice man at State Farm took my banking info so that I wouldn't miss the check, it would just be direct deposited. And he forwarded my claim to someone else to make sure they get started working on. Fingers crossed maybe they will get it d...

Excess Fat Follow Up

When we last left off, I was four weeks into an eight week bikini challenge. Turns out there was a ninth week slim down at the end of that as well. I followed the diet and exercise more diligently for the remainder of the program. I wasn't seeing much more weight loss, but I could definitely see my muscles toning up. And I was still cheating on the regular. I have very little will power.  Halfway into that ninth week slim down, I became pretty sick. I didn't work out for over a week. I def didn't follow the meal plan. I was eating the minimum needed to make it through the day. I haven't been to yoga in almost a month. I've just now been able to start working out again. My eating is slowly getting back to normal, trying to figure out what doesn't make me feel bad.  I want to redo that ninth week and follow it to a tee just to see what can happen. And then go back to heather and get my body fat tested again. Right this second I think I'm down ab...
