I don't want to go on a diet. Diets are dumb and they don't work. I just want to be healthier.
What I need to do is change my lifestyle. It's probably something I should do gradually and not all at once either. But do I want to follow some "guidelines" or just figure it out on my own. Paleo, vegetarian, gluten free (my fit foods)...
Here are the things I at least know I should be working on.
Cut down/out processed food.
Cut (way) back on the soda
Eat more fruits and veggies
(as I sit here writing this, I'm eating out of the carton of a pint of ice cream. Go me!)
I generally can stick to a plan for a little while but once I go off the rails, watch out.
I had lost a few pounds over race weekend bc I was basically too busy to eat. But once the event was over I had one bad meal after another. It was just one a day, but they were bad enough to matter.
Danielle over at Breakfast at Toast has been doing crossfit and paleo and loves it. She just wrote two big posts on the ins and outs of paleo. I just don't think I can give up bread, pasta and beans. And cheese! You're supposed to avoid dairy.
A friend went vegetarian a little while ago (but still eats fish) and he lost 20 pounds. It's different for guys, but still. I would rather give up meat (I don't eat all that much anyway) than everything I would have to give up for paleo.Maybe instead of going all veggie, eat meat only once or twice a week.
I know that if I eat better, I will feel better. And I really want to feel better. I want more energy, no headaches.
*Third run with the girls and we went six miles Monday after work!
