Meet Lola

If you follow me on facebook or Instagram, then you know that I have a new addition to my family - Lola the french bulldog.  I have wanted a french bulldog dog for years and when S got Gordeaux last year I was ridicously jealous. I've been seriously watching the rescue sites for a few months now and Lola (posted as Dora, more later) came up last weekend.  I wanted a puppy. But let's be realistic. Frenchie puppies are ridiculously expensive and any puppy is going to require a serious time commitment. So I had been looking at rescues, who wouldn't want to give an unwanted dog a better life? Lola was rescued from a mill. They say she's about six years old and has had a few litters. The guy who had her out in the boonies of Texas performed is own c sections 😳 and it seems had little to no interaction with her outside of breeding her. She didn't answer to Dora and has no basic training other than being crate trained. So I basically got a six year old puppy. You get what

Weekend Recap

My weekend is finally over. It was nice while it lasted...all four days of it.  But for so much time off, I have little to show for it. On my Friday off, I did yoga, went for a mani pedi, ran around for a bit and cooked dinner. Saturday after yoga I found Dora online (see below), isn't she the cutest? She's up for adoption after being rescued from a mill. I was running in the afternoon looking for a Veuve presentation bottle for a friend, in the pouring rain, then ended up picking up Gordeaux for the night. I cooked dinner and watched a lot of movies, seriously a lot, I was up til almost 5. Sunday morning after I (grudgingly) gave G back, we went for brunch at Cyclone Anaya's with their 1cent mimosa refills...and I may or may not have spent the rest of the day in bed. Another day off on Monday and S was off too, I dragged him to yoga in the am before lunch and some wandering around in the afternoon. A quick workout in the evening preceded an amazing dinner. I saw this on

Hey You

yes, you (me). stop being unhappy with yourself. you are perfect. stop wishing you looked like someone else or wishing people liked you as much as they like someone else. stop trying to get attention from those who hurt you. stop hating your body, your face, your personality, your quirks, love them. without those things you wouldn't be you. and why would you want to be anyone else? be confident with who you are. smile. it'll draw people in. if anyone hates on you because you are happy with yourself then stick your middle finger in the air and say screw it. my happiness will not depend on others anymore. i want to be happy bc i love who i am. bc i love my flaws. bc i love my imperfections. bc they make me me. maybe one day.

Running is hard

I've been trying to run more and it's slowly getting better. For the past few months, I've been having tightness in my hips when I run. I just started going to hot yoga a few weeks ago and it really seems to help.  On Tuesday I ran with a group at Luke's Locker's Social Run and did my 4 miles at an 8:51 pace...this was a day after a hard workout at the gym so even though it was slower than last week, I was still pretty happy with it. Especially that last 8:20 mile. I always push hard at the end of group runs. Eveything is a competition to me and I'm kind of ok with that.  Wednesday was just Yoga and then Thursday I did am yoga, tried to run a few miles and then did pm yoga too. I went for a run by my apt, I haven't been running over here lately, and my hips were locking up again. Maybe it's the sidewalks by my place that bother me so much. I was so excited to move somewhere where I could run and now it bothers my hips? Ugh.  It was a very light running w

Weekend recap

The weekend has unfortunately come to an end. Clearly I started this Monday, it's now Tuesday and I'm trying to finish it. Friday after work I rushed over to hot yoga. Great class, but once it was over I sat down in my apt and didn't end up going to the store to get food for dinner til almost 9! But with a 10k race int he morning, I needed to eat a good dinner. So of course I had salmon, duh. And some pasta and veggies. But I couldn't sleep much Friday night and the alarm went off way too early on Saturday. There was a hot minute where I thought maybe I should stay in bed, but I didn't. Up and out of the house and downtown for the 10k. My legs felt pretty tired throughout most of the run, which is why I was shocked when my first mile was 7:51 and that my overall pace ended up being 8:29. Of course, my watch said 6.4 miles so my official pace was actually 8:40. Rude. I rushed home after the race, changed my shirt and went right to hot yoga. I did not not feel l

Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Today is, unfortunately, not my Friday off. You can't win them all. No real plans yet for the weekend. Shocking, I know. I'm registered for a 10K tomorrow morning and there's always yoga. I should probably at least think about doing a short run today since I haven't run since Tuesday if I'm doing this "race" tomorrow. At least Tuesday's run went really well. It was four miles with a group at 8:45, 8:50, 9:00 and 8:19! Go me on that last one. So what else am I doing this weekend? At some point, I would like to try cooking with tofu. I really want to go out for sushi. I am in desperate need of  brunch or at the very least mimosas. And shopping sounds like a good idea...also, still on the search for a puppy (and by puppy I mean any french bulldog under the age of five).

Here's what: March 12

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... I ordered big people knives. I cook all the time now and I only have one real knife. These babies should arrive tomorrow  Still loving hot yoga. Next week is my last week in my 30 days for $30...seriously considering buying another month, even though it would be $75. Day off work flow. I had yesterday off...went to yoga, went out to lunch (with margaritas, yay for early happy hour), ran some errands and took a nap. It was a good day.

Weekend recap

It's March and that means Spring Schedule has started at the office, which means...I now have every other Friday off! And my first one was this past Friday. Love, love, love three day weekends. If I don't really have plans, sometimes it's best that way. Friday started off great...slept in a bit, went to hot yoga then met up with a few girls for lunch at the Refinery, a burger place on the edge of downtown. They were super jealous of my beer since they couldn't drink, you know, had to go back to work and all. I honestly barely remember the rest of the day. I know I went to Whole Foods at some point and picked up some amazing fresh pasta to get ready for a 10 miler the next day...but that's all I got. Saturday morning I met up with K and a friend for a long run. She's training for the Boston Marathon and was heading out for 18 miles! I have a half in two weeks and I've never run 18 before, so since she had another friend running the whole way I decided t
