Saturday morning was my first group run with my new running club!
I still have not gotten an email from them with my training schedule and other important info but the man in charge had told E that we should be there at 7:00am to leave with the 7:15 group. So when I showed up at 6:50am and finally found the man in charge he said well you're late, you should be with that group right there but they are leaving and E isn't here yet. Umm, not what you told us the other day but whatever.
So we left with a slower group (thank god) and just tried to take it easy on our first run with the group. We ended up going almost 5 miles. And it felt good, easy, if a little slow. But you have to start somewhere.
Now the one thing we have been on the fence about in regards to joining a local running club is telling people where we work. So obviously we got asked that question on our very first run by some of the ladies we were running with. Some people love our race and some people hate it, as is the case with all things in life. But these ladies were pretty cool. They just asked a few questions and mainly just seemed to think we had interesting jobs.
After the run was, well I thought it was going to be a group yoga for runners sessions, but it was a local yogi talking to the group and telling us what some of the best poses are for runners.
Somewhere around this point I started to get hungry. Like really hungry. And E and I made a food pact. Once a month we can have a good brunch, the rest of the time we need to either hit up Starbucks or My Fit Foods. So we headed to Starbucks after getting our new running club tank tops.
I was pretty useless for much of the rest of the day until it was time to go to the Houston Dynamo game. We met a few friends at a bar beforehand and then headed in to watch Houston play the Seattle Sounders. The Dynamo won 3-1.
Sunday morning I was up bright and early to watch the final day of the IAAF World Championships. I love me some track and field. Over nine days, Team USA amassed 25 medals. Their third-highest total ever. But it was the first time in 10 years that they lost the gold medal count. Home team Russia had seven to USA's six.
After that, I didn't accomplish much else. I got one more box packed. Just one. Oops. And watched a bunch of TV. Today is the day I'm supposed to find out if I can move this coming weekend. After I get the news, then I will kick my butt into gear and pack some more.
