Weekend recap

Friday night was my Opening Ceremony party. And now I remember why it's easier to host on a Saturday or Sunday. There was a lot of running around to get everything ready after work before everyone came over, but K was around to help so that made things easier.

Right before I left work on Friday I saw a blog post from a friend in Olympic-land that had an Opening Ceremony drinking game. It was hilarious and we loosely followed that while watching NBC.

Saturday was all Olympics all the time...except for my 30 minute run. Had to get some sort of shake out in. I hadn't run in a week and we were scheduled to do a 10 miler during the Rhythm and Blues Half Marathon Sunday. Oh and brunch in the am with a few ambassadors and some of their friends. We went to Backstreet Cafe and it was really nice. It was good to meet and hang out with some new people. Hopefully we will do it again soon.

Sunday. At least this half started at 8:30 am. Or it was supposed to. We ended up starting 10 minutes late for some reason. I didn't think I would like doing my 10 miler inside a half marathon, but it wasn't so bad. There were tons of people around and lots of water stations. While it was not my best run, it wasn't so bad either. Especially for only running about five times in the past three weeks. Once Austin is over, I plan to really train for DC. We'll see how that goes.

After the run was brunch. Brunch is the best. Especially when there are 99 cent mimosas. Yep, a mimosa for under $1.  And my second eggs benedict of the weekend. No wonder my clothes are starting to not fit right. Once Austin is over, I need to get back on the healthy train and start cooking again. Especially since we then went to Chuy's for dinner last night. Ugh. But so good.

Team USA puts out a daily recap book...make sure you check it out. It updates daily.

Here's what: August 15

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... If you haven't seen this photo of Usain Bolt winning the men's 100m at the IAAF World Championships, you might be living under a rock. There are five sessions, and some pretty good events, left to go at Worlds. And Team USA is currently sitting atop the medal table with a total of 10 medals - 4 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. So...I joined a local running club. And I signed up for the marathon training program! Not that I'm signed up for an actual marathon or anything. This particular training group is training for my race, so I can't exactly run that. There are weekly track sessions and long runs are on Saturdays. The program lasts for 22 weeks. Well but we've already missed two weeks bc of other commitments. E and I will be doing this together. We'll see how this goes.  Towards the end of September is something called Social Media Week. It is a leading media platform and worldwide event ...

New Goals - Lean

So I finally went back for my follow up body fat test last Tuesday. I didn't really know what to expect. I knew I had lost some weight and I could see more muscle definition, but I wasn't sure. I told myself I would be happy with anything under 30% since I was 33.8 the last time I went. So of course in the lead up to the test I had like 5 cheat meals. Insert eye roll here. Saturday was margaritas and Mexican for dinner. Sunday was brunch and champagne and pizza. And then Monday was more Mexican bc of Sunday. Whoops. Clearly I had to run Tuesday morning before the test. hahahaha Then at lunch time I headed over to visit Heather. The got a new machine that's so supposed to be even more accurate than the BodPod and you don't even have to strip down lol. So my new results were: Weight - 147.6 Body Fat - 27.8 So I lost 6.3 pounds and 6% body fat. Total time elapsed between tests was 16 weeks. This places me in the moderately lean category for women. Moving fo...

Are these really the same shoes?

I was so excited to order the pink nike pegasus sneakers that I was swooning over last week. After everything that happened, it was my way of cheering my self up. Then they came in the mail. Now don't get me wrong, I still love them, but I don't love them as much. In person, they are much darker than the picture would have you believe. They are even darker than the picture I took. Must be something about this pink, it always looks brighter in the photo. They look so similar in these pictures. But in person. It's almost a different shoe. Oh well. At least they were on sale. In unrelated news...I called the insurance company on the premise of telling them I was moving but really just wanting an update on my claim. Well the really nice man at State Farm took my banking info so that I wouldn't miss the check, it would just be direct deposited. And he forwarded my claim to someone else to make sure they get started working on. Fingers crossed maybe they will get it d...
