Here's what: October 31

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... My parents get here in two days! I still don't have everything planned out like they want me to, but I have a few things I know we're going to do. Like brunch at Max's. Yum. Ok, so maybe it's not three things this week. Just this one. But I'll count it as two at least. My dad. And my mom. I can't wait for them to get here. It's what's getting me through this ridiculous week. It's not so bad I guess, but at the same time it is. Anyway, they get here Saturday night. So close. And yet so far.

the Photo Shoot

While the twin was in town I arranged for us to have out picture taken by a professional photographer. The excuse was we were doing it for our mom. But really we just wanted some nice photos. We don't have a lot of recent good ones of us bc we live so far apart and are only together mostly on holidays. And I'm always looking for an excuse to get a blow out and my make up done. Like I need one. Who knew I could be so girly? Anyway...it's been four weeks since she was here and we finally got our pics! Here are some of my favorites.

Weekend recap

I called this a weekend recap, but mostly it's going to be about the Houston Half. Friday night was real exciting. I fell asleep on the couch before 7:30pm. Guess I was tired. And finally got up and went to bed after midnight. Oh but the twin and I did get our pictures back finally with no watermarks. More on that tomorrow. I did get in a two mile run on Saturday. To make up for the fact that I had only run once that week. And bc K said I couldn't carb-load at dinner that night if I didn't get off my couch.I had dinner that night with A & E at Pantranella's. And I ate a lot. I mean, a whole lot - all the bread in site and my entire serving of linguine and clams. I tried to go to bed early, but it was still about midnight when I finally fell asleep. Sunday morning the alarm went off way too early, 4:55am. I quickly got ready and dashed out the door to get to E's place by 5:45. Leaving my place I made the decision that I had to go over the train tracks and

Here's what: October 24

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... I'm running a half marathon on Sunday. That I am not at all ready for. Sounds like fun right? Training was going well even if I had only been running two or three times a week. And then I went home for Fran's wedding and didn't run at all. And then I got robbed and went to Chicago. More not running. So my last three or four weeks have been pretty/really low mileage wise. We'll see how this goes. My parents are coming to visit next weekend! I just saw them a few weeks ago when I was home for the wedding. But let's be honest, so much has happened since then. I can't wait for them to get here. Now if I could just get a game plan together for what we're going to do while they're here. The Nike Women's Marathon was this past weekend. I love that race. And I definitely want to go back and do it again. But in the meantime, I just want to steal their graphic designer and bring

Wanderlust

I'm feeling the urge to travel lately. It's been so long since I've gone anywhere that wasn't for work or to visit family. Three years if you want to get technical. I was very lucky several years back to travel to Europe several times a year. Some for work, some for play. And it was...I want to say there are no words. I felt at home there. It was comfortable, fun, relaxing, inviting. Everything to me that, right now, Texas is not.  How could I not want to go back? Maybe I could convince the twin to go with me. Now, of course, is a bad time. Always a bad time. But I could plan. And go in February. It could be amazing. Do you follow The Everygirl ? Danielle and Alaina , the women behind, it are currently on an 11 day trip through London, Paris and Rome that they booked via Contiki Tours . Traveling with with a group of 20- and 30-somethings. And it looks amazing.

Retail therapy wish list

Oh shopping. How much fun you are. You always make me feel better. But. Since I currently have no credit cards (thank you scary, armed robber), there will be no retail therapy right now. Instead, I will dream of the things I want. How cool is this Nike Shield Flash Jacket ? I love the silver part at the bottom. You should def head over to their website to see all it's features. Like how reflective it gets at night. As long as I'm dreaming, I might as well throw this out there. The Nike Allover Flash Jacket . Now I def would not be as scared outside in the dark. But holy cow these two items are expensive. Still They're going on my wish list. And I can't leave out the Nike Lunarglides from Chicago. Swoon. The steel bracelet watch band that goes with my urban mini Michele watch. This blowout in a box set from drybar that is currently selling on QVC. Except there's a wait list. boo. A cute polka dot notebook from Sugar Paper. Pretty

Weekend recap

I didn't do much this weekend, which is how I like it right now. Friday night I was just hanging out when somebody knocked on my door. Talk about scaring the bejeezus out of somebody. I don't get unannounced visitors. But it was one of my neighbors I had told my story too and she was hanging out with some other neighbors and thought she would check in on me and see if I wanted to come over. It was very sweet and I told her next time bc it was already after 9:30pm and I had to get up oh, so early to run. My alarm went off way too early on Saturday, but I pulled myself out of bed, got dressed and headed over to the park for my run. It was very dark when I left the house at 5:40am and I had immediate second thoughts about running. Maybe I should wait til it was out. Being alone in the dark makes me all kinds of nervous right now. But I was meeting E and our group so I kicked myself in the but and drove over to the park. When I got to the park, I was more than a little nervou

Hello Weekend

Finally. Just one more day of work. And then it's the weekend. No sleeping in for me though. Early morning group run and volunteer lunch tomorrow and then course tour on Sunday.

Here's what: October 17

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... I saw these Nikes in Chicago and I want them so bad. Love them. But. But they are $150. Ugh. I am not so patiently waiting to hear back from the photographer that the twin and I used to take our picture while she was in town. Nancy said it would be 3-4 weeks before we got the images back. Seriously? This was not a wedding, just a 30 minute photo session. I want to want to run. But right now I just don't feel like it. I know that I should. That if I'm going to keep up with my marathon training group I need to. But no. I just want to sit on my couch, eat all the food and drink all the wine.

One day at a time

One day I will feel like doing something again. Running, reading, blogging, going for a walk, anything really. But today is not that day. I just want to curl up on my couch and doing nothing. But it's a Wednesday, so off to work I go. In the meantime, check out these cool bloggers who I love to follow. Danielle from Breakfast at Toast is getting ready for an awesome trip to Europe. Kym from Travel Babbles wrote a funny post about buying a DSLR bc all the cool bloggers were doing it and finally using it a year later. Something I need to do! The twin over at This, That and the Other just became a Stella and Dot stylist. Megan at Style Me Swanky gave out her Lust List for items at ShopBop.com for their 25% off sale. I did not need to know everything over there is on sale. But it's ok since I can't shop without my credit cards which haven't arrived yet. Liz at One Twenty Five just ran the Chicago Marathon. Go Liz!

On another planet

I'm back in Texas after a nice long weekend in Chicago. I got back Sunday night actually. And I'm really glad I took the trip. It kept me so busy I didn't have time to think. For the most part anyway. Friday was the elite athlete press conference for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, followed by round table sessions with different athletes throughout the rest of the day. My main job was coralling all the athletes and making sure they were all where they were supposed to be. We usually call this herding cats. Friday night my work hosted a pizza party at Geno's East. I know this should mean something to me, the original home of Chicago's deep dish pizza or something, but it doesn't. I did like the food though. Saturday morning we had a start and finish line walk through with their broadcast partner. Followed by more round table sessions. At four o'clock they held their Technical Meeting. That's when all of the elite athletes and their coaches/manag

wtf Houston

WTF is wrong with people? Seriously. I left my apartment at like 9:30 last night to run to the store. And I made a right without paying attention. And got stuck at the train tracks. You never realize how many trains there are until you live next to tracks. So I pull up and wait. Bc you can't turn around, there's an island in the road and you're just stuck. So I'm sitting there playing on my phone when my door opens?!?!? Some punk kid shoves a gun in my face, takes the phone right out of my hand and starts demanding stuff. I didn't have my purse on me, just my wallet. And it was like he didn't believe me. He pulled the slide (?) back on the gun, threatened me one more time and then took off. That's when the shaking started. I got out of the car. Bc I'm an idiot. Then got back in and backed up the street and into my complex parking lot. There were two guys sitting out front who called the police for me bc by now I could barely speak. And then they le

Weekend recap

What a weekend. I love four day weekend anyway, but when they include a family wedding...amazing. I flew home late Thursday night, just ran a few errands on Friday before ordering Aston Palace (some of my fave home takeout) and watching a movie. Saturday was the big day. Up early to get my hair done. If you know me, you know all I am capable of is drying my hair and/or putting it in a ponytail for a run. I wanted better than that. And honestly, what girl doesn't love getting their hair done. Well, besides my twin. The rest of the day is a blur. I went home and got dressed and twin and I left for the ceremony. It was a beautiful mass. With some time to kill between then and the reception some of us headed to the bar, before going to Harry Savoy's where the reception was. And since I will not be able to do it justice, take a look at our night in the photos below. The bride and groom (plus a bridesmaid) waiting for their introduction. My dad...double fisting.
