Friday Funday

Sounds like a good plan to me. Goes well with #1.   YES. Except today. I'm off today.

Here's what: February 27

First things first...that workout I had yesterday...6:11, 6:09, 5:56. Not bad when I thought I would only be able to run 6:45s. Esp since it was cold and rainy. Anywho...here's what three things I am obsessed with this week... I always want new running shoes and Nike just came out with a new version of the shoe I'm running in right now - the Nike Flyknit Lunar2 . I'm going to the Rodeo Cook Off this weekend. I really have no idea what to expect except a lot of food and a lot of alcohol. So. I can be quite the negative person. I know this about myself. And for a while I just kind of accepted that that was my life. With everything that's happened in the past few years, I've just built up these walls and that negativity was my automatic defense mechanism. If I didn't expect anything good to happen, I wasn't let down when nothing good happened. But I am in a better place now and I don't want that to be my life. So maybe I'll think about ev...

Bye bye bye

The twin's visit has come to an end. Right about now she should be on her way to the airport for her flight home. We didn't get to spend too much time together, but the time the we did was good. Monday I went over to her hotel after work and we met some of her coworkers down at the hotel bar for a drink. And then Tuesday I went over to see the showroom floor of their convention before they had a private concert in the GRB with Little Big Town. I have zero pictures from our time together which is unfortunate and in all of the pics she took Friday night my eyes are just about closed. Apparently I look high most of the time now when we go out at night. I blame my contacts. Now that she's gone and I don't really have anything going on...I really need to start cooking again. I haven't cooked a real meal in quite some time. This - Risotto with Fresh Mozzarella, Grape Tomatoes, and Basil - is what I want to make. It's one of my favorite dishes and I don't th...

Weekend recap

Who am I and what have a I done with the real me? I went out every night this weekend. AND and and...I got a new car. I had the Civic for 11 years! And put over 146,000 miles on it. It moved with me from PA to CO to IN to CT to TX and we had a good run but it was def time for a new ride. The Jeep Compass Limited . I have four doors for the first time since 2003 and my dashboard finally tells me how many miles I can drive until I run out of gas. And let's not forget that new car smell. Back to the recap...I picked the twin up from my house Friday just before lunch so that we could head over to DryBar. Every time she's in town she wants to go, but next time she's here she may want to pick a new stylist bc her hair didn't last until Saturday night and she was not happy about that. Anyway...it also took a lot longer than normal so we grabbed Panera and headed back to my office til about 4. Where she cleaned my office. My boss now loves her. We went out that night t...

Here's what: February 20

Here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... The Olympics are almost over, but there is still a lot more to go. Today is the women's hockey gold medal match between USA and Canada, the women's figure skating medals will be determined today, men's hockey medal matches will happen on Sunday and so much more. Yesterday, 2005 World 100m champion Lauryn Williams, who was part of the 4x100 at the London Olympics that won a gold medal in a world record time, won a silver medal in the women's bobsled.   I want to buy myself something shiny with part of my tax refund. I will be responsible with the rest of it, but just a bit, I want to get something fun. I'm looking at getting the stainless band to go with my Michele watch or a DY ring . (Sorry mom) One is more financially responsible than the other, but they're both pretty. The twin gets in today! Amazingly enough, her work conference is at the Houston Convention Center...

Austin weekend recap

It's Wednesday already? How did that happen? Whoops. So last Friday I drove up to Austin with K in advance of the Austin Half Marathon. We had an industry event to attend and then we were having dinner with friends. Something to keep in mind - tomatillo sauce in mexican restaurants is not the same thing as tomatillo sauce at Chuy's. I did not like my dinner. Saturday a few more friends came up and we went to EXPO, picked up our packets and shopped a bit. Bc I really needed that long sleeve nike top. The we took a tour of the finish line so that K could look at some new fencing. Best part of Saturday? Finding a Noodles and Company in Austin. Love that place and convinced everyone that that was where we should have lunch. Sunday morning. The Austin Half Marathon. Well. It wasn't great. I'd been having some issues with my left ankle. Off and on it would just hurt. Really bad, out of the blue. No idea what the problem is. Anyway, it hurt on the walk to the start. ...

Here's what: February 13

How is it only Thursday? Slowest week ever. Anyway...here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... The Olympics. Obviously. Love, love, love watching all the different sports. What's your favorite sport? The Austin Half Marathon is this Sunday. At this point, my goal is just to finish. Under 2:15 is acceptable, under 2:10 would be better. Just looking forward to breakfast afterwards and then getting into training for Nike Women DC. I'm seriously on the fence about whether or not to get a new car right now. It's been over five years since I've had a car payment, but my car is now almost 11 years old! There's a lot of things to factor into my decision though and I just can't decide. I may go test drive on Monday though. I really like this Jeep.

15 Things You Don't Know About Me

I know this blog is generally all about me, but there are still a lot of things you don't know about me. So I decided to come up with a list of things I haven't shared before. In no certain order, here are 15 things you probably don't know about me. I kind of really want this chair from Crate and Barrel. 1. I've diagnosed myself with ADHD. I mean really, does anybody who works in sports not have this? Shiny things are so distracting. 2. I am the oldest of three - I have a twin sister and a 29 yr old sister. 3. I have five tattoos and am currently plotting my sixth. 4. I used to laugh at my mom for crying at TV shows and commercials. And now I have turned into her. 5. I'm addicted to coke. The soda, not the drug. 6. I like to read. A lot. No really, I won't buy a book if I think I will only read it once. 7. I give good hugs. 8. I love to ski, but haven't been in years. 9. I love rearranging furniture. 10. I was a pole vaulter in colle...

Weekend recap

Friday night was my Opening Ceremony party. And now I remember why it's easier to host on a Saturday or Sunday. There was a lot of running around to get everything ready after work before everyone came over, but K was around to help so that made things easier.   Right before I left work on Friday I saw a blog post from a friend in Olympic-land that had an Opening Ceremony drinking game . It was hilarious and we loosely followed that while watching NBC. Saturday was all Olympics all the time...except for my 30 minute run. Had to get some sort of shake out in. I hadn't run in a week and we were scheduled to do a 10 miler during the Rhythm and Blues Half Marathon Sunday. Oh and brunch in the am with a few ambassadors and some of their friends. We went to Backstreet Cafe and it was really nice. It was good to meet and hang out with some new people. Hopefully we will do it again soon. Sunday. At least this half started at 8:30 am. Or it was supposed to. We ended up s...

Here's what: February 6

I know, I know. I haven't been blogging. I have no excuse. I haven't been doing anything. Definitely in that post-event slump. BUT, but, but...the Olympics are starting! Go Team USA! So anyway...here's what three things I'm obsessed with this week... Let the Games begin! Events started this morning in Sochi even though the Opening Ceremony is not until tomorrow night. Umm...I want all of these things for my party on Friday night. But I won't have any of them :/ I really want to go just lie on a beach somewhere warm for a few days. Is it weird to go on a cruise alone? I need a vacation! Who wants to go with me?
